Ta’allum Academies Honour Year 12 Graduating Students of the Class of 2023

Students of the three Ta’allum Academies in the Year 12 Classes of 2023 attended prestigious Graduation ceremonies at the Kempinski Marsa Malaz. Resplendent in their graduation gowns, sashes, and mortar board hats, students formally celebrated the culmination of 12 compulsory years of education. Ta’allum students follow a demanding British curriculum leading to IGCSE and IAS qualifications. These exams, in combination with Ta’allum’s established vision for Arabic language and heritage, rooted in Islamic identity, prepare the students thoroughly to be respectful leaders of Qatar’s next generation. The joyous events were held in succession on the weekend of June 1st– 3rd 2023.

Parents and families looked on proudly as the ceremonies for Al Maha Boys and Al Maha Girls and Al Jazeera Academies began, in time -honoured tradition, with the formal entry procession of the graduates. This was followed by the Holy Qu’ran recitation and the National Anthem.

The ceremonies featured speeches by Heads of Secondary School: Mr. James McAleese (AJA), Ms. Loretta Conway, (AMAG) and Mr. Steve Roger (AMAB), who paid tribute to their students’ achievements. These were followed by the customary address by the Head Boys and Girls: Ahmed Adel Al-Hammadi for AMAB, with Hamad Ghanim Alsaad Al-Kuwari and Abdulrahman Eisa Al-Bukhari; at AMAG, the Head Girl: Tarteel El-Amin Emam, with Sheikha Jassim Al Sulaiti; at AJA, Head Girl: Nawarah Hussein with Deputy Heads, Fajer Al Hamadi and Hissa Al Abdulghani; and Head Boy: Mohamed Redhwani with Deputy Heads, Youssef Mahmoud and Abdulaziz Al-Thani (AJA). All spoke eloquently and respectfully on behalf of the graduates, offering gratitude to teachers, parents and families who had supported them.

Films about students’ academic journeys were displayed. There were some emotional reminiscences as students prepared to move on from school to university. Most students have attended their Academy for the full 12 years since KG. There were innovative touches too. Al Maha Boys sent surprise messages of gratitude to their mothers and families on Whatsapp provoking spontaneous, joyful reactions. Al Jazeera Students received moving video messages and tributes from their fathers, mothers, and families. At Al Maha Academy for Girls, special guest speaker and Qatari athlete, Ms Mariam Farid, inspired the girls with her spirited words about ‘working hard and following dreams.’

Each student then proudly traversed the stage to accept their certificates and gifts, presented by Principals. The continued upward profile of Ta’allum exam results enables students to aspire to ever greater heights in their chosen fields at prestigious Qatar universities, abroad in the UK and around the world. The Academy Principals: Ms. Nadia Waja (AMAG) Mr. Shuja Uddin (AJA) and Mr. Peter Kubicki (AMAB) concluded events, offering messages of hope for the future, urging students to remain proud of their Islamic identity and to carry their beliefs with them into their role as global citizens. The final act was the’ ‘throwing of the caps’ to symbolise the end of one stage of educational ‘life’ and on to the next.

Ta’allum’s Director of Education, Dr. Mohammed Saefan said ‘I congratulate the graduates of the Class of 2023 and wish them great success in the next stages of their learning journey. I remind all graduates that knowledge does not have limits – use your platform to keep learning throughout your life.’ Mr. Ahmed Al Mannai, Ta’allum’s CEO, commented ‘We are very proud of our students’ success, past and present.
