Ta’allum Academies Beat Coronavirus Outbreak with Ground Breaking Virtual Learning Programme

The directive this week from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education means that all schools in Qatar are closed until further notice to control the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus. In response,  Ta’allum Education and IT staff have been working round the clock, demonstrating their teamwork, initiative and commitment to meeting students’ ongoing learning needs. Although students are unable to attend school, there will be no loss of learning because all students from the youngest KG children to mature Year 12 students, approaching their final external AS exams, will attend ‘virtual’ lessons from home or wherever they are located.

Ta’allum Education is now ready to launch its ground breaking Online Learning programme on Sunday March 15th. A full timetable of lessons for all students in all year groups will be delivered interactively and regular school times will operate. Student Attendance is compulsory for all lessons. All lessons and learning will be accessed through the Microsoft TEAMS platform.

Lesson delivery will include live delivery and use of interactive resources such as Active Learn. Bug Club, Power Maths, Mathletics, I Read Arabic and many more. Recorded lessons can also be used in virtual classrooms with teachers pausing and explaining as needed to guide students. A Student Helpline and a Technical Helpline are in place to ensure support for a smooth transition from classroom to online learning environment.

Crucially, Year 11 and 12 student approaching their final exams this summer will have revision, exam practice and support through this critical time for their future.

Parents have responded very positively to the development which incorporates the best interactive technology. Full information and guidance is being forwarded to parents by the SIMS Parent App and there will regular updates of arrangements on the Academy websites. Ta’allum’s decision to invest in Education Technology seems vindicated at this time. Ta’allum Academies are Microsoft partners with all 3 Academies designated as ‘Microsoft Expert’ schools – the first schools in Qatar to be accredited with this prestigious designation.

Ta’allum’s Director of Education Dr Mohammed said ‘Technology is one of the crucial tools in accessing modern learning. Ta’allum students have electronic tablets for use in class and at home, strengthening parental involvement and effectively encouraging learning 24/7. High Quality Teaching and Learning for our students are our highest priority.

Ta’allum CEO Mr Ahmed Al Mannai said ‘Online learning is a key component in our vision for our students’ success and Ta’allum is proud to be a leader at the cutting edge of development. The rapidly evolving digital technologies which continue to shape our world present our students with vital learning opportunities. Online learning and assessment is becoming firmly established for our students and staff. This is why we are able to respond so proactively to this unprecedented situation.’
